Our Story

Kaewa is completed to a luxury standard.

Shaped by two decades of engineering — ten years in the superyacht world, and the decade before that in aeronautics — Kenny brought precision, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for detail into the build of his dream campervan.

Six years and many vans later, that first vision has evolved into something bigger: an independent, custom-built campervan rental business, born from experience, care, and a love of the road.

It all started with one van - Kaewa.

Meaning ‘to roam’ in Maori, Kenny acquired Kaewa as a brand new custom Ford Transit van in 2020. Originally meant to be a personal vehicle, Kenny poured his heart and soul into building Kaewa completely from scratch. She took 9 months to complete full time during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Who we are.

Kenny Tran

Our multi-talented CEO, Kenny is from Vietnam and New Zealand. An Aucklander since 8 years old, Kenny has also spent his most recent years travelling the world as a marine engineer on super yachts.

Logan Williams

Kenny's best mate since school, Logan is our COO and the guy who keeps everything running like clockwork. Seriously, where would we be without him? He even paved over his front garden to give our fleet of six campervans somewhere to call home. Now that's dedication.
